Voice
- Lee Robinson’s clarity × The Pragmatic Engineer’s depth. Short sentences, simple words, short paragraphs. Depth from numbers and primary sources, never from rhetorical flourish.
- Rejected: the heavier Stratechery-style register (long thesis sentences, dramatic constructions like “Sit with the symmetry”). The reader “didn’t fully connect” with it.
- Approved sample of the target voice: the 2026-06-12 trust-stack dive.
Format
- Weekly = ONE essay deciding what mattered; beats are research lenses, never output sections. The reader explicitly does not want per-topic news lists.
- Short “Also this week” footer (4–8 one-liners) is wanted.
- A deep dive every week alongside the essay; reader may also request topic-specific dives on demand.
- A shorter daily dive (Tue–Sun) under a rotating columnist byline
(
AUTHORS.md) — evergreen “how it works” by default, the day’s news only when it earns a durable explainer. Record which columnist’s voice the reader prefers here as the experiment settles. - Cross-domain connection (e.g. AI × energy × economy × politics) is the core value: “figure out which points of the week relate to another topic or broader trends — here is where you become opinionated.”
Coverage
- Beats: AI, tech, Claude Code, devtools, DevRel, dev marketing, product engineering, economy, politics.
- Claude Code is a daily tool for the reader — small news there can outrank big news elsewhere.
- Discussions (HN/Reddit/X) matter to the reader as much as news.
